「第22回ノルウェーフレンドシップヨットレース」が盛大に開催されますことを、心からお喜び申し上げます。 　折しも今年は、日本とノルウェー王国の外交関係樹立120周年という記念すべき年になります。この大会を通じて、両国の絆がますます深まることを願っております。 　さて、神奈川の海は美しい海岸線に恵まれ、四季を通じて様々なマリンスポーツを楽しむ多くの人々で賑わっています。また、ここ神奈川は我が国のヨット発祥の地でもあり、毎年、世界中から多くのセーラーが訪れています。 　こうした中、2001年に始まった本大会は、セーリング競技を身近に感じ、神奈川の海の魅力を多くの方に知っていただくまたとない機会となっています。 　大会に参加される選手の皆様には、それぞれの目標に向かった培った技術を存分に発揮していただくとともに、ヨットを愛する仲間との交流を深め、素晴らしいレースを繰り広げていただきたいと思います。そして、このヨットレースを通じて、日本で指折りのヨットハーバーとして、江の島の名が国内外に知れ渡っていくことを期待しています。 　結びに、本大会の開催に御尽力いただきました関係者の皆様に深く敬意を表しますとともに、大会の御成功と皆様の御健闘をお祈り申し上げ、私のあいさつといたします。

It is my great pleasure that the 22nd Norway Friendship Yacht Race is being held on a grand scale. This year marks the 120th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Norway. I hope that the tie will be further deepened through this race. Blessed with the beautiful coastline, the ocean of Kanagawa bustles with many people enjoying various marine sports all through the year. Kanagawa is the birthplace of yachting in Japan, and visited by many sailors from across the world every year. Against this background, Norway Friendship Race, which was begun in 2001, offers a great opportunity for more people to know the fascination of Kanagawa’s ocean. I hope that the participating sailors will demonstrate their techniques that they have nurtured to pursue their own goals, and deepen exchanges with other sailors who love yachting, showing wonderful races to us. I also expect that the name of Enoshima will spread at home and abroad as one of the best yacht harbors in Japan through this event. Lastly, let me express my deep respect to the people concerned. I would like to conclude my words by wishing a great success of the 22nd Norway Friendship Yacht Race and the best of luck of all the racers.

This year holds special significance as Norway and Japan proudly celebrate the 120th anniversary of our diplomatic relations. Over the past century and more, our countries have shared a profound friendship built on mutual respect, cultural exchange, and a shared commitment to fostering a better future for all. Sailing, with its rich traditions and deep connection to the sea, is a fitting symbol of this relationship. Both Norway and Japan have a longstanding heritage as maritime nations, and this race brings together our shared love for the ocean and our appreciation for the spirit of competition and cooperation. I am delighted that the 22nd Norway Friendship Yacht Race will once again be grandly held at the Enoshima Yacht Harbor this year. On behalf of the 440,000 citizens of the City of Fujisawa, I would like to extend my heartfelt welcome to all the sailors and everyone involved who have gathered here from various places. This regatta was established to commemorate the visits of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway, who visited Enoshima during the 1964 Tokyo Olympic sailing competition as Crown Prince and later returned with Her Majesty Queen Sonja in 2001―a place full of memories. Since then, this event has grown into a venue where not only Norway and Japan but countries from around the world foster friendship and continuing to build its history. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic sailing events were held once again at Enoshima, and taking this opportunity as an Olympic legacy, the City of Fujisawa made a “Sports City Declaration.” I sincerely hope that a wonderful race will unfold on these waters, which have been the venue for the Olympic Games twice, showcasing the results of your daily practice, and that this will become a memorable event for all. I would like to express my deepest respect and appreciation to the Enoshima Yacht Club and all those involved in organizing this event. I wish all the sailors success and safety.

春風と共に、セーリングを楽しむ季節が江の島にやってまいりました。 第22回ノルウェーフレンドシップヨットレースを開催出来ることを心より嬉しく存じます。 江の島ヨットクラブのメジャーイベントであるこのレースは、ジュニア、ディンギー、クルーザーのセーラーが参加出来る春の一大国際イベントになりました。セーリングを通じノルウェーの皆様との交流を深め、ノルウェー王国大使館より大使杯としてバイキングシップの優勝杯をいただきます。 今年はノルウェー・日本の外交関係樹立120周年に当たります。 これからもセーリングを通じ、友好を深めて行きたいと思います。 今年もこの大会を始めに年間を通じ、色々なセーリング大会が開催出来ることを期待しています。 これからのセーリング界にはこの様なレースが多くなり、多くのセーラーが楽しくレースに参加してほしいと思います。 ここにご支援していただいた企業、団体等の皆様、参加してくださる選手の皆様、そしてこの大会の運営に当たって下さる皆様方に改めまして御礼申し上げます。

With the spring breeze, the season for enjoying sailing has arrived in Enoshima. We are very pleased to host the 22th Norwegian Friendship Yacht Race. This race a major event of the Enoshima Yacht Club, this race has become a major spring international event for junior, dinghy and cruiser sailors. Through sailing, we will deepen exchanges with everyone in Norway, and receive the Viking ship trophy as an ambassador's trophy from the Royal Norwegian Embassy. This year marks the 120th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Norway and Japan. We hope to continue to deepen friendship between our two countries through sailing. We look forward to this and other sailing competitions being held throughout the year. There will be more races like this in the sailing world in the future, and I hope that many sailors will enjoy participating in the races. Once again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the companies and organizations that have supported us, to all the players who have participated, and to all of you who have been involved in the operation of this tournament.

It is my great pleasure that the 21th Norway Friendship Yacht Race is being held on a grand scale this year, too. Beautiful ocean of Kanagawa captures the heart of many people with its multifaceted features, and the beaches bustle with many visitors enjoying marine sports all year round. In particular, many sailors come to Kanagawa every year since it is the birthplace of yachting in Japan. Against this backdrop, sailors of a wide range of generations will show heated matches for Norway Friendship Race. I expect that the races will give a precious opportunity for more people to know the fascination of sailing, and contribute to the spread and promotion of Kanagawa’s marine sports. I hope that the participating sailors will do their best and show us wonderful races, demonstrating the result of their daily training. I also hope that this event will further develop as an opportunity to deepen the friendships between Kingdom of Norway and Japan. Dear organizers and sailors, dear friends, On the occasion of the 21st Norway Friendship Yacht Race in the picturesque setting of Enoshima, it is with great joy and pride that I extend my warmest congratulations to all involved in this esteemed event. This sailing event holds a special significance, deeply rooted in the enduring bonds between Norway and Japan. It is a result of the remarkable journey that began with the historic visit of His Majesty King Harald V to Enoshima during the Tokyo Olympic games in 1964, where he took part in the sailing competition as Crown Prince. King Harald’s return to this beautiful coastal town during his State Visit to Japan in 2001 enhanced the close relationship between our two nations, leading to the inauguration of this cherished sailing event as a symbol of our enduring friendship. I extend my heartfelt wishes to all competitors, organizers, and supporters for a successful and memorable race. May this tradition endure for generations to come, handing over the friendship and sportsmanship to the next generation of young sailors who will continue to strengthen the bonds between our nations. We would like to express our pleasure that the 21st Norwegian Friendship Yacht Race will be held at Enoshima Yacht Harbor again this year. This race was started as a commemoration of the visit of King Harald of Norway to Enoshima, the memorable place where he participated in the 1964 Tokyo Olympic sailing competition, with his queen. This race has been held over many years as a proof of the friendship between Norway and Japan. More than half a century later, the sailing competition for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was once again held in Enoshima, and with this Olympic legacy as an opportunity, Fujisawa City declared itself a "Sports City." We have great expectations that this will be an unforgettable event for everyone, with great races taking place in the ocean that has been the venue for two Olympic Games.
